How many social media platforms should my business be on?
THE SHORT ANSWER
Most small businesses should be properly active on one or two platforms and simply present on the rest. Pick the main one by asking where your customers already spend time. For local food, beauty and fitness that is usually Instagram. For older local audiences it is often Facebook, and for selling to other companies it is LinkedIn. Once the main platform runs smoothly, send the same posts to the others. Being everywhere only helps if it adds no extra work.
What to do
- 1Ask ten customers which apps they use most.
- 2Choose one main platform and reply to comments there daily.
- 3Claim your business name on the other platforms.
- 4Send the same posts to those platforms without making new content.
- 5Review twice a year and drop any platform bringing nothing.
The common mistake
Trying to create different content for six platforms by hand. It lasts a few weeks, then every account goes quiet at once.
WHERE KLIK FITS
With KLIK you choose which platforms to include and one upload goes to all of them, so extra platforms do not mean extra hours.
